Delhi: 16-Year-Old Gang-Raped Inside Car, Three Arrested
Delhi Gang Rape: The father of the girl told police that his daughter went out with three people in a Wagon R car at 8.30 pm on July 6 and all of them returned the next day.
Three people were arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl inside a car in south Delhi, IANS reported. Among the accused is a male friend of the rape survivor. The incident happened on the intervening night of July 6-7 when the survivor had gone to meet two people whom she knew.
"A PCR call was received at Vasant Vihar police station at 4 am on July 8 in which the caller stated three men have molested a girl," IANS quoted Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Manoj C as saying.
The caller, who was the father of the girl, told police that his daughter went out with three people in a Wagon R car at 8.30 pm on July 6 and all of them returned the next day in the morning.
The girl revealed about the incident to her parents in the evening of July 7 after which they took her to a hospital.
"The victim said that at 8.30 pm on July 6, she met with two men, both known to her, near Vasant Vihar market. Both of them offered her a joyride and then another person came there with his Wagon R car," IANS quoted the DCP said.
The accused first went to Mahipalpur where they bought liquor and consumed it. After consuming the liquor, they drove to an isolated place where one of the person, who was known to the girl, kissed her first. Then, the other two men raped her, the survivor said in her statement.
The police has registered a case under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and the Indian Penal Code. The accused were aged 23, 25 and 35 years.
A report in PTI said the girl, however, claimed in her statement that her male friend did not commit any offence and was only trying to save her.
A police official said there was no external injury on the victim or even on the accused. "Investigation is still underway to clarify the facts," the official said.
