Badaun Double Murder: UP Police Announce Reward Of Rs 25,000 On Javed, Magisterial Inquiry Ordered Into Sajid's Encounter

New Delhi: The situation in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun turned tense on Wednesday after a barber hacked two boys to death and critically hurt a third in an axe attack. The incident took place in Budaun's Baba Colony on Tuesday.

The victims, identified as Ayush (12) and Ahaan alias Honey (8), were playing on the terrace of their house when the accused entered the home and killed the two brothers.

The perpetrator, identified as 22-year-old Sajid, fled the scene but was tracked down by the police and killed in an encounter, the FIR filed into the matter said.

Uttar Pradesh Police announced a reward of Rs 25,000 on Javed, accused in the Budaun double murder case, who is currently absconding in the matter.

  • District Magistrate Badaun Manoj Kumar Singh ordered a magisterial inquiry into the encounter of accused Sajid and ordered to send the inquiry report within 15 days.
  • Nazarin, the mother of the accused, said that her sons faced the consequences of their actions. "I don't know what was going on in their minds. They do not have any rivalry with anyone. I feel very sad for the children to whom this has been done," she told PTI Videos.

  • When asked about the police encounter, she added, "They faced the right consequence for their wrong actions." 

  • "The man from salon had come here. He took my brothers upstairs, I don't know why he killed them. He tried to attack me too, but I pushed away his knife, pushed him away and ran down," the surviving brother of the two deceased children and eyewitness to the incident told ANI. 
  • The Budaun police said that the accused reached the house of the victim to ask for money and when the mother of the deceased children went to take the money, Sajid and his brother Javed took the children to the terrace and killed them. 

  • The police registered an FIR in connection with the case based on a complaint by the father of the deceased. As per the FIR, Sajid told the mother of the deceased that he wanted money as his wife was about to deliver a child. 

  • Budaun Senior Superintendent of Police, Alok Priyadarshi told news agency ANI that the accused Sajid entered the house at around 7:30 pm on Tuesday and went to the terrace. "He attacked the two children and murdered them. He then came down where the crowd tried to hold him back but he escaped...Police teams swung into action when they got to know that the accused had escaped...The accused fired at the police and was killed in retaliatory fire. The murder weapon and the revolver have been recovered," said the police official.

  • In the FIR, the family of the deceased children has also named the brother, Javed of the accused. Teams are working to find him and he will be arrested soon, police said.

  • The Samajwadi Party targeted the ruling BJP in the state saying the party was carrying out such incidents to win elections by creating riots and communal tension in UP. 

  • Meanwhile, the BJP accused the SP of giving protection to the criminals. Had SP been in power, the criminals would have been protected, said BJP spokesperson Rakesh Tripathi adding that strict action will be taken against the culprits. 

  • Congress demanded strict action in the case. Party MP Pramod Kumar said, "I am extremely sad. I don't have enough words to condemn this incident. I want to say one thing stringent action must be taken against the culprits and those who supported them..."
