Atiq Ahmed-Ashraf Murder Case: Shooter Sunny has confessed that the three accused got weapons from a Delhi-based gang. A Lawrence Bishnoi link has surfaced as per the shooters' confessions, sources said.
Atiq-Ashraf Murder Case: The Uttar Pradesh Police is interrogating the shooters who killed mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf on April 15, 2023. According to sources, shooter Sunny in police custody has confessed that these three accused got weapons from the 'Jitendra Gogi gang' from Delhi. Kanpur-based criminal Babar was also associated with this gang. Through Babar, they came in contact with the Gogi gang.
However, police sources also say that the accused are constantly changing their statements and the Uttar Pradesh Police is cross-verifying the claims made by them.
The Jitendra Gogi gang wanted to execute a major plan in NCR with the three shooters. Due to the NCR connection, the Gogi gang had given them a new ID, a big camera, I-Card of an NCR channel. It is to be noted that in September 2021, Jitendra Gogi was murdered in Rohini Court, he was close to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

The three accused reached Prayagraj by bus from Lucknow on April 12. All three stayed in a hotel in front of the railway station, one and a half kilometers away from Calvin Hospital. They originally intended to kill Atiq Ashraf in court on April 13, but at that time they did not get a chance to execute their plan. After this, on April 15, during the day, they went to see Calvin Hospital. They bought two new mobiles but could not collect fake IDs for SIM cards. After shooting Atiq and Ashraf, all three raised slogans of 'Jai Shri Ram' to overcome their fear, the shooters said, according to sources.
Wanted To Be Like Lawrence Bishnoi
Earlier, the three shooters confessed in front of the police that they wanted to be like Lawrence Bishnoi, sources said. They said that they did not plan on firing at the police in the hospital where Atiq and Ashraf were brought for medical checkup. The three did not want to die in a shootout, so they surrendered. The criminal history of Sunny Singh is surfacing in many districts of UP. In an incident in Jalaun in the year 2019, he along with one of his accomplices robbed a Scorpio car following which he clashed with the Kadaura police.
