Amid Outrage Over Badlapur Sexual Assault, Another Molestation Case Emerges In Maharashtra

Maharashtra Sexual Abuse Case: In Naigaon, Maharashtra, a 16-year-old school canteen worker allegedly molested a seven-year-old girl studying in Class 2.

Maharashtra Sexual Assault Case: Amid the massive protests over the sexual abuse of two minor girls in Maharashtra's Badlapur, another incident of sexual assault of a minor girl in the state has come to the fore. What is even more shocking is the fact that the alleged crime was committed by another minor who worked in the canteen of the school where the girl studied.

The alleged sexual assault was reported from Naigaon, a city just 50 km from Mumbai. A 16-year-old minor working in the canteen of a school in Naigaon allegedly molested the girl, a seven-year-old studying in Class 2 at the school four to five times. The Naigaon police detained the accused.

How The Naigaon Sexual Assault Case Came To Light

The Naigaon case came to the fore on Thursday, August 22, when the girl refused to go to the canteen. The student told her teacher that "an uncle working at the canteen harasses her". After this, the teacher informed the school principal, who spoke the girl and verified the identity of the person. According to the girl's account, a 16-year-old boy, who worked at the school canteen, was identified. The school principal then informed the police about the incident. The accused was apprehended by the police and a case under the POCSO Act was registered.

Badlapur Sexual Assault Case Update

The Opposition MVA in Maharashtra called for a silent protest against the Mahayuti government. It alleged that the government was backing the culprits who allegedly sexually abused two minor girls at a school in Badlapur. Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Vijay Wadettiwar said that crimes against women were rising in Maharashtra and the government was failing in controlling them.

The government, on the other hand, accused the MVA of trying to politicise the matter. The BJP, too, staged a protest in Maharashtra against the MVA.
