Shraddha Murder: Aftab Undergoes Polygraph Test, Tells Court He Acted In 'Heat Of The Moment'. Key Points

Shraddha Walkar Murder Case: After Aftab's polygraph test, police are likely to go for narco analysis, which was permitted by the court last week.

Aftab Poonawala, accused of murdering his partner Shraddha Walkar and chopping her body into pieces, underwent a polygraph test on Tuesday after a Delhi court gave permission to police even as more details of the sensational case continued to tumble out. After the polygraph test, police are likely to go for narco analysis, which was permitted by the court last week.

Here Are The Top Developments In Shraddha Walkar Murder Case:

  • FSL experts began the polygraph test on Aftab on Tuesday. The process of the polygraph test may go on for a day or even two, a senior FSL official told PTI. "We have initiated the process for conducting the polygraph test. A questionnaire is also set and will be asked. The duration of the test also depends on how many breaks are taken during the procedure," he said.
  • Earlier in the day, Aftab was produced before Metropolitan Magistrate Aviral Shukla, who extended his custody by four more days.
  • Aftab told the court that he acted in the "heat of the moment" and that it was not "deliberate", PTI reported.
  • However, Aftab's lawyer Abinash Kumar said Aftab had not yet confessed to killing his live-in-partner in the court of law. Aftab's initial confession was not made before a magistrate, which is needed to make it admissible evidence.
  • This contrasts police's assertion that Aftab had confessed to killing Walker and dumping her body parts at different locations across Delhi.
  • Police sources told ABP News that important clues have been found from the bathroom tiles of Aftab's flat in Delhi after a forensic team broke the tiles and found blood stains on them. The recovered tiles have been sent for DNA examination to ascertain whether those blood stains were of Walkar.
  • On the other hand, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed with costs a PIL that sought directions to transfer the Walkar murder investigation from Delhi Police to the CBI, terming it a 'publicity interest litigation'.
  • Aftab killed his live-in partner Shraddha on May 18 by strangling her. He then cut her corpse into 35 pieces with a saw and preserved them in a fridge for almost three weeks at their flat before disposing of them over several days.
