UP Govt Organises 'Snan Parv' For Inmates Of 75 Prisons, Transport Holy Water From Triveni Sangam
The water from Triveni Sangam was mixed with regular water and stored in small tanks, giving inmates a chance to take the holy bath and offer prayers at the jails.

Around 90 thousand inmates in 75 prisons across various cities in Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, Ayodhya, and Aligarh took bath in the water brought from Triveni Sangam during the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.
The water from Triveni Sangam was mixed with regular water and stored in small tanks, giving inmates a chance to take the holy bath and offer prayers at the jails.
Jail Superintendent Abhishek Kumar Singh said a puja was performed and chants were made before the prisoners took snan in the water brought from the Sangam.
"As per the instructions from the headquarters, the water that was brought from Triveni Sangam was made available to the prisoners for 'snan'. A 'puja' was held, Vedic chants were made. The prisoners took 'snan' with a lot of enthusiasm, I hope that it will help in creating a positive atmosphere, and there would be positive energy among the prisoners," Singh said.
The prisoners at Bhadohi Jail in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow were seen taking 'snan' in water brought from Triveni Sangam.

'Snan Parv' In UP Jails
UP minister of Prisons, Dara Singh Chauhan, said that around 90 thousand inmated were given the chance to take the holy dip during the 'snan parv', ANI reported.
"As per the instructions of the state government and jail administration, a 'snan parv' was organised for the jail inmates since they cannot go to Maha Kumbh Mela. So it was decided to bring water from the Maha Kumbh to the prison so they could also take a holy dip...Even Muslim inmates are excitedly taking part in the 'snan parv',"Chauhan said.

The minister said that UP is the first state where the prisons department brought the holy water to the prisoners. "The people outside can go anytime, but those who are imprisoned despite their faith, have a compulsion that they cannot get out of the four walls...with the support of all the senior and junior officers of our jail, about ninety thousand prisoners of UP were given the chance to take the holy snan," he said.
Chauhan also said that the prisoners had requested for the event themselves as they wanted to take a dip in the Sangam.
