UP: Dispute Over Cooler Leads To Full-Blown Fight In Jhansi, Video Shows Chairs Being Thrown — On Cam

The incident took place on Wednesday during the wedding of Ganeshi Raikwar’s daughter, Sapna, who was set to marry Sonu, a resident of Awas Vikas in Nandanpura.

A wedding in Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh turned chaotic after a dispute over a cooler’s air escalated into a full-blown brawl, leaving guests scrambling and celebrations in disarray.

The incident took place on Wednesday during the wedding of Ganeshi Raikwar’s daughter, Sapna, who was set to marry Sonu, a resident of Awas Vikas in Nandanpura, which come under the Sipri Bazar police station limits.

As per eyewitnesses, the altercation broke out shortly after the traditional 'jaimala' ceremony. While the guests were busy clicking photographs and others enjoying the meal, a group of guests sat in front of a cooler that was meant to keep the bride and groom comfortable on stage.

When others asked them to move so the airflow could resume, tensions rose. A video of the incident, which shows chairs being hurled and guests fighting, is now going viral on social media.

The situation turned worse when four to five local youths entered the wedding tent and joined the argument, siding with the groom’s party.

What followed was a flurry of chaos — heated words, flying chairs, and a scuffle that forced many guests to abandon their meals midway and flee the scene. In the midst of the chaos, the bride and groom narrowly avoided injury.

The bride’s mother and brother have approached the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) office, demanding action against those involved in the violence. The viral video has drawn widespread attention online, prompting police to initiate an inquiry.

Jhansi Circle Officer (CO) Ramveer Singh confirmed the incident, saying: "A video surfaced on social media showing guests at a wedding engaged in a physical altercation using chairs. Upon investigation, the event was found to have occurred within Sipri Bazar police station jurisdiction. So far, no formal complaint has been received, but legal action will follow once a report is filed."

The shocking incident highlights how even a minor issue can derail a celebration — leaving behind not memories, but mayhem.
