'Yogi Govt Hiding Fatalities': Akhilesh Yadav's Big Claim Amid Maha Kumbh Stampede
Samajwadi Party chief alleged that the Yogi government was hiding details about the severity of the tragedy that took place on the auspicious occasion of 'Mauni Amavasya' in the Maha Kumbh.

In a stunning claim, the Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav accused the government of Uttar Pradesh of hiding real figures of deaths in the Maha Kumbh stampede in order to avoid paying compensation to the deceased families.
The Lok Sabha MP further alleged that the Yogi Adityanath government was hiding details about the severity of the tragedy, which took place as millions of pilgrims gathered to take a sacred dip on the auspicious occasion of 'Mauni Amavasya'.
"The UP government and the Chief Minister have failed morally and politically as well. The government is hiding the death numbers so that they don't have to provide compensation. The government just wants to divert public attention. There is no conspiracy, it is the government's failure. Even saints are saying that Yogi (Adityanath) is a liar," Akhilesh said while speaking to the media outside Parliament ahead of the Budget session, India Today reported.
30 Killed, 60 Injured In Maha Kumbh Stampede
A senior official announced on Wednesday (January 29) that 30 people have lost their lives and 60 others have been injured and receiving treatment in hospitals in the Maha Kumbh stampede.
Vaibhav Krishna, DIG Mahakumbh, said that the stampede took place between 1-2 am when a huge crowd broke the barricades, which resulted in the stampede.
The press conference of the top police official came several hours after the pre-dawn stampede took place at the Sangam area of the Maha Kumbh as millions of pilgrims jostled for space to take a holy dip on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya. He also said that only 25 people have been identified so far and efforts are on to identify the remaining victims.
"Before Brahma Muhurta, between 1 am to 2 am, a huge crowd gathered on the Akhara Marg. Due to this crowd, the barricades on the other side broke and the crowd ran over the devotees waiting to take a holy dip of Brahma Muhurta on the other side. About 90 people were taken to the hospital through ambulances but unfortunately, 30 devotees have died. Out of these 30, 25 have been identified and the rest are yet to be identified," Vaibhav Krishna said, ANI reported.
