RRTS Project: Namo Bharat Trains To Enter Meerut With First Station Operational From Today. Check Fare
The Meerut South RRTS station on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor will open on August 18th, extending the operational section to 42 kilometres.
Meerut News: Good news for commuters using the Namo Bharat train services between Sahibabad and Modinagar (north) in Uttar Pradesh! The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) is set to throw open an addition of this eight-km section on the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project from Sunday (August 18) leading to the doorsteps of the Meerut district.
With Meerut South RRTS station operational from Sunday, 42 km of the 82 km RRTS will be operational. Currently, only 34 km of the RRTS corridor, from Sahibabad to Modinagar North, is operational. The entire 82-km long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor will be operational by June 2025, according to an official statement.
"The Meerut South RRTS station will open for passenger operations from Sunday at 2 pm. With the addition of this eight-km section, a total of 42 km of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is now operational, including nine stations from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad to Meerut South in Meerut," the statement said.
Notably, the 82km-long proposed RRTS project involves the operation of Namo Bharat trains connecting three cities of Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut. As per reports, the maximum fare from Sahibabad to Meerut (south) will be Rs 110 for passengers travelling in the standard coach of Namo Bharat train, while it would be Rs 220 if a passenger travelled in the premium coach.
Moreover, NCRTC, in a statement said that passengers travelling on Namo Bharat trains can now also avail power banks on rent starting from Rs 50. The first such service is now available at Sahibabad RRTS station. These power banks, available on rent, are equipped with three types of charging pins, suitable for charging various devices, including iPhone, micro USB and C-port connection.
Apart from this, there are also plans to start electric vehicle charging facilities at various stations and preparations are underway for that.
So far, the 34km RRTS section is operational in Ghaziabad with eight stations at Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Duhai Depot, Muradnagar, Modinagar (south) and Modinagar (north).
