RG Kar Victim's Time Of Death To Colour Of Bedsheet That Covered Body — BJP Lists Discrepancies, Cops Respond

RG Kar News: The BJP has claimed discrepancies in time stamps and that the bedsheet used to cover the victim's body was changed. The Kolkata Police has addressed the claims.

RG Kar News: The BJP is continuing its attack against the Mamata Banerjee government over the Kolkata doctor death case. While an under-pressure TMC government in Bengal is highlighting the cases of sexual abuse in BJP-ruled states, the saffron party on Thursday alleged that there were discrepancies in the time stamps recorded in the post-mortem report and the death certificate.

The BJP also said that the time of death in the cremation register and the police investigation report were different. The party alleged that there were multiple people involved in the death of the junior RG Doctor at RG Kar Medical College who was raped and murdered on August 9. Another sensational claim was that the colour of the bedsheet used to cover the victim's body had changed, indicating that the sheet was changed multiple times.

Was Bedsheet Changed Before Parents Were Shown RG Kar Victim's Body?

Amid the allegations of attempts to destroy evidence, a claim had come to the fore that doctors at the hospital saw the body being covered with a blue bed sheet. However, the mother of the victim said that she saw the corpse covered with a green sheet a few hours later.

The BJP cited the victim's mother's claim to allege that the Mamata Banerjee administration did not miss any chance to destroy evidence in the case. The victim's mother in an interaction with ABP Ananda said, "At three o'clock, someone went to see daughter. He saw that my daughter was covered with a red bed sheet. Later, someone saw a photo where she had a blue sheet on her. When we saw her, we saw that she was covered with a green sheet."

She further said that she saw the photo with the blue sheet. "But in that photo, her legs are farther away from that bed. But when we saw the body, we could understand that her body was arranged in a neat manner to be shown to us," she said.

What Police Said On The Bed Sheet Claim

Indira Mukherjee, Deputy Commissioner said: "Our photography and videography started around 12.25 PM on that day. The photos and videos were taken in phases. Not only during the seizure process but also during the inquest and when the forensic team had arrived. During this time, our records show that the colour of the bed sheet was blue. We have heard the claims that the colour was green or some other colour. But it is not so."

She said that all data collected by the police have been handed over to the CBI and can be verified.

Kolkata Police On Viral RG Kar Tapes

On Thursday another claim went viral that the RG Kar MCH administration made conflicting claims when informing the victim's parents about her death. First, they claimed that she was sick. Later, they claimed that she had committed suicide. The claims were made on the basis of a few audio clips that went viral.

Reiterating the Kolkata Police's stand on the matter, Indira Mukherjee said that the viral tapes also show that Kolkata Police never said it was a suicide. She, however, did not confirm the veracity of the viral audio clips. "We heard some audio clips that were rolled out by many channels... No comment had been made by Kolkata Police. We never said that it was a suicide. We said this earlier as well," she said.
