2-Yr-Old Rescued From Rajasthan Borewell After Gruelling 18-Hr Op. How NDRF & SDRF Reached Her

After the child fell into the open borewell on Wednesday, the local administration launched a rescue operation. SP Sharma said the NDRF and SDRF were subsequently called.

A two-and-half-year-old girl who fell into a borewell while playing was rescued from the Bandikui police station area of Rajasthan's Dausa on Thursday. After an 18-hour rescue operation, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) reached the child.  She was rushed to the hospital for medical care.

Earlier in the morning while speaking to ANI, NDRF Assistant Commander Yogesh Kumar said they had conducted parallel digging and then begun digging a 17-ft horizontal tunnel to reach the child. He said they had dug to a depth of 31 ft parallel to the borewell, and 12 ft of the horizontal tunnel, to be used to approach the girl, had been completed.

The girl was fed some biscuits and milk in the morning, he added.

Intermittent rainfall is reportedly hindering rescue operations.

As per ANI, after the child fell into the open borewell on Wednesday, the local administration launched a rescue operation. Dausa District Collector Devendra Kumar, Dausa Superintendent of Police (SP) Ranjit Sharma, officials from the Water Supply Department, and other officials of the local administration reached the spot as rescue operations started.

SP Sharma said the NDRF and SDRF were subsequently called, and they were trying to rescue the child as quickly as possible. “We have called the SDRF and NDRF teams, who are experts in such kinds of rescue operations."

The SP was quoted by ANI as saying: "We are trying to know the movement and condition of the child through cameras. We are trying multiple methods so that the child can be rescued safely."

The district collector told ANI that a medical team had also reached the site to supply oxygen to the child.
