Pune: 19-Year-Old Woman Raped At Knifepoint, Relative Forced Into Obscene Acts On Video; 2 Arrested

The Pune police arrested two men for allegedly raping a 19-year-old woman at knifepoint. The accused allegedly made the woman's relative perform obscene acts with her which were filmed on their phone.

The Pune police on Monday informed that they arrested two men for allegedly raping a 19-year-old woman at knifepoint in a village in the district. The arrested men were identified as Amol Narayan Pote, 25, from Shrigonda in Ahilya Nagar district, and Kishor Rambhau Kale, 29, of Dharur in Beed district for the crime which took place late March 1 in the village under the Shirur taluka.

Kale works as a driver and Pote is a labourer. The accused were nabbed within two hours after the crime was reported, police said, as per Indian Express. They were remanded in police custody till March 7 for further probe.

The woman hails from Madhya Pradesh and was visiting a relative’s house in the village, as per the police who further informed that she was talking to her relative at an isolated place when the suspects arrived on a two-wheeler around 11 pm on March 1.

The accused allegedly threatened the victim and her relative at knifepoint, IE reported the police as stating. The accused are also accused of making the woman's relative perform obscene acts with her which were filmed on their mobile phones. The accused also allegedly threatened to kill the relative and robbed her of gold ornaments before fleeing from the spot.

After the incident was reported, a team from the area police station reached the spot. Pankaj Deshmukh, Superintendent of Police, Pune Rural, also visited the crime scene. The First Information Report (FIR) in this regard was lodged on March 2.

Thane Minor Girl Raped Multiple Times, Forced To Undergo Abortion. Accused Man & Doctor Arrested

In another shocking crime, police in Maharashtra's Thane district arrested a man for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl and forcing her to undergo abortion on the basis of fake documents. According to news agency PTI, the dead foetus was buried at a crematorium in Ulhasnagar and has been exhumed for further probe into the case.

Officials on Sunday said that a doctor was also nabbed for providing medicines for the termination of the minor's pregnancy.

The victim and the 29-year-old accused man are reported to be neighbours at a locality in Thane's Ulhasnagar township.

The accused had allegedly lured the victim to his home In July last year under the pretext of having dinner as his wife, children and parents were visiting their native village, Ulhasnagar central police station's senior inspector Shankar Avtade informed, as per PTI.

The man allegedly sexually exploited the minor multiple times following that and threatened to kill her if she exposed him, the official said. The victim got pregnant, and when she informed the accused, he gave her abortion pills from a private practitioner, he added.  

When the abortion bid was unsuccessful, the accused's wife, mother and mother-in-law allegedly conspired to force the victim, at that point seven months pregnant, for an abortion last month, the official stated.

The victim was taken to a hospital when her parents were away. The accused submitted false identification and age details of the victim, and doctors advised an abortion. The abortion was then carried out at a civic hospital in Kalyan, the official said.

The accused's wife and mother then hurreidly buried the foetus at a Ulhasnagar crematorium.

The crimes came to light on February 23 when the victim confided in her mother upon the latter's return from her village. The victim's family then lodged a complaint at Ulhasnagar Central Police Station leading to the accused man's arrest on February 25.

The accused persons, including four women and a doctor, have been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections on charges of rape, forced abortion, concealing evidence, and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the official stated.
