Pregnant Woman 'Refused' Care At Pune Hospital Dies
A 7-month pregnant woman in Pune died after she was allegedly denied urgent care at Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital.

A seven-month pregnant woman died after she was allegedly denied urgent care in Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune, Maharashtra.
According to an Indian Today report, Tanisha Bhise was facing pregnancy-related complications when her family rushed her to the hospital.
Her husband, Sushant Bhise, reportedly said that the hospital demanded Rs 10 lakh for treatment. Although he offered to pay Rs 2.5 lakh upfront, the hospital allegedly declined to begin treatment, resulting in a critical delay in medical intervention.
As per the report, Sushant serves as a private secretary to Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) member Amit Gorkhe. Sushant said that Tanisha was carrying twins and required urgent care. Since he was denied treatment, Tanisha’s family was left with no choice but to take her to another hospital where she delivered her babies. However, succumbed to complications following the delivery.
"They prioritised money over life. Had they admitted her in time, she would have survived," Sushant accused the hospital of negligence.
Reacting to this, BJP MLC Amit Gorkhe on Thursday slammed the Pune-based hospital that refused to admit Tanisha. "Despite an assurance to pay Rs 3 lakh immediately, the hospital denied admission to the patient. Even a call was made from Mantralaya to the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, but it did not yield any response from the hospital," Gorkhe alleged.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sushma Andhare also took to social media and asserted the hospital sought Rs 10 lakh as a deposit despite the woman's kin agreeing to arrange Rs 2.5 lakh immediately and the rest in a short period.
"Even after a call from Mantralaya, the hospital did not change its stand. The patient had to be shifted to another hospital, where she delivered twins, but did not survive. Had the hospital administration shown some humanitarian consideration, Tanisha Bhise might have been alive today," Andhare stated.
Responding to the allegations, Ravi Palekar, Public Relations Officer at Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital, said, "The information being circulated in the media is incomplete and is damaging the hospital's reputation.”
He further said that they are preparing an internal inquiry report and will submit all relevant details to the state administration.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sambhaji Kadam confirmed that statements from the Bhise family have been recorded. They will take further action based on what the government's medical committee finds.
