Inspector Found Consuming Liquor Inside Police Station In Dry Bihar's Jehanabad; Suspended

A police inspector was suspended on January 11 for allegedly consuming liquor inside the police station in Bihar's Jehanabad district, as reported by PTI.

In 2016, Bihar was declared as a dry state after chief minister Nitish Kumar banned alcohol consumption in the state. Thus, the sale and consumption of alcohol are banned in Bihar.

As per the details, the suspended police officer has been identified as Fakira Prasad Yadav. Fakira Yadav was posted as the station house officer (SHO) at Sikaria police station of the district.

The cop was suspended after a video showing him consuming alcohol inside the police station went viral on social media.
Accordingly, Yadav was suspended after the findings of an investigation report verified the authenticity of the video.  

According to an official statement issued by the district police, "Inspector Yadav has been suspended after a video showing him consuming alcohol inside the police station went viral on social media."

"The authenticity of the video was verified and further investigation into the matter was ordered. Based on the findings of the investigation report, the decision to suspend Yadav was taken," the statement said.

Departmental proceedings have also been initiated against Yadav as it is also a violation of the state prohibition laws. 

"Departmental proceedings have also been initiated against him. It's a serious case and also a violation of the state prohibition laws," the statement said.

Earlier, in Septemeber 2024, three cops including a sub-inspector were arrested from the premises of a police station in Kaimur district of Bihar, after they were found in an drunk state. As per the details, the three arrested cops were posted at the Sonhan police station of the district. According to the details, as reported by PTI, a complaint was received by the SP office that some party was going inside the police station where all three cops were posted. Thus, a team led by Bhabhua SHO, Mukesh Kumar reached Sonhan police station and found sub inspector Rajeev Ranjan and two chowkidars Chandrajeet and Amrendra Kumar in an inebriated condition. Subsequently, the cops were immediately taken into custody.
