Heavy Pre-Monsoon Rains Lash Mumbai; Andheri Subway Flooded, Traffic Hit
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a short-term alert for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Palghar, warning of thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds up to 60 kmph.

Mumbai Weather Today: Heavy rains and thunder lashed several parts of Mumbai as pre-monsoon activity intensified. Areas like Jogeshwari, Andheri, Malad, Kandivli, Borivli, and Mira Road experienced sudden downpours, with Jogeshwari recording the highest rainfall—63mm between 7 pm and 8 pm on Tuesday.
Neighbouring Thane and Navi Mumbai reported similar spells of rain.

The five-day forecast also indicates that the rainy weather is set to continue through the week.
Mumbai Roads Waterlogged, Traffic Hit
The heavy rainfall led to waterlogging in several areas, including the stretch between Saki Naka and Andheri station. The Andheri subway was shut for traffic after being inundated. Citizens' groups posted pictures on social media showing severe traffic congestion and flooded roads. The Chandivali Citizens Welfare Association reported commuters being stuck in traffic for over 30 minutes.
BMC's automatic weather stations confirmed moderate to heavy rainfall across the suburbs. In the western suburbs, HBT Municipal School in Jogeshwari recorded 63mm, followed by Malpa Dongri (57mm) and Eksar Municipal School (61mm in the next hour). In the eastern suburbs, Powai's MCMCR logged 38mm, while Mulund's Veena Nagar saw 16mm.
Thane city and its suburbs received 32.8mm rainfall between 7.30pm and 9.30pm. Three tree fall incidents were reported but no injuries were confirmed.
According to IMD, Mumbai will continue to see thunderstorms, heavy rain, and gusty winds (50-60 kmph) till Friday. The intensity is expected to reduce slightly on Saturday, with moderate rainfall likely.
In Raigad, the weather is expected to intensify mid-week with heavy to very heavy rainfall on Thursday and Friday. Palghar will experience daily thunderstorms with wind speeds of 40–50 kmph till Friday, followed by moderate showers over the weekend.
