The video, originally released by the Congress last year following the third INDIA bloc meeting in Mumbai, captures Rahul Gandhi visiting Lalu Prasad Yadav’s residence in Delhi on August 4, 2023. The occasion was more than just a political meeting, and it turned into a culinary bonding session with Champaran mutton, a famous Bihari delicacy, taking centre stage.
In the video, Rahul Gandhi is seen assisting in the kitchen under the watchful eyes of Misa Bharti, marinating mutton brought in specially from Bihar. Lalu Prasad Yadav, too, is seen stirring the pot.
The group effort produced a meal that reached Priyanka Gandhi as well, who later playfully questioned whether Rahul had actually helped. “Everyone did,” Rahul clarified. “Lalu ji cooked, Misa cooked, it was group cooking.”
Amid bites of food, the conversation veered to politics. When Rahul asked Lalu, “What is the spice of politics?”, the veteran leader quipped, "Fight, fight against injustice." Rahul expressed admiration for Lalu’s sharp political mind, calling him “very incisive”.
