Sonia Gandhi To Akhilesh Yadav: Politicians Across Party Line Attend IUML-Hosted Iftar Party In Delhi

The Indian Union Muslim League hosted an Iftar party in New Delhi, attended by leaders from Congress, BJP, Samajwadi Party, DMK, MDMK, TMC, NCP-SP, AAP, and more.

Leaders from several political parties including Congress, BJP, and Samajwadi Party attended the Iftar party hosted by IUML in Delhi.

The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) on Thursday hosted an Iftar party in the national capital, with several senior leaders from across the party line in attendance. 

Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and party leader Jaya Bachchan were seen sharing the table with Sayyid Sadiq Ali Thangal, Kerala chief of IUML during the event. 

Other Congress leaders who attended the get-together included party president Mallikarjun Kharge, MPs Shashi Tharoor, KC Venugopal, and Gaurav Gogoi. 

DMK's T Siva, A Raja, MDMK's Vaiko, Kalyan Banerjee and Mauha Moitra from TMC, NCP-SP's Supriya Sule, VCK's Thol Thirumavalavan and BJP’s Neeraj Shekhar also attended the iftar party. 

Rajya Sabha MPs Sanjay Singh from Aam Aadmi Party, Sudha Murthy, and PT Usha were also in attendance.

IUML Are Our Allies: Tharoor 

During the event, Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor reaffirmed IUML's position as a key ally of the Congress party. 

"The Indian Union Muslim League are our allies and they have got a very strong presence here through Parliament in the Upper and the Lower house," Tharoor told ANI. 

"Their senior leaders have come from Kerala and the national IUML establishment. We are delighted to be here to participate in this event and wish the IUML all the very best for Ramzan. May everyone have a blessed Ramzan,” he said. 

Leaders Extend Greetings On Ramzan 

AAP leader Sanjay Singh extended greetings on Ramzan and appealed for peace and tranquillity in the country. 

"Today, this Iftar party is being organised by IUML. I wish Ramzan Mubarak to the people of their party and all those who are here today and I appeal to everyone to pray for peace, tranquillity and prosperity in the country," he said. 

Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murthy also conveyed her best wishes: "I wish very happy, peaceful Ramzan. We all should enjoy every festival." 

Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha expressed gratitude for being invited to the event. "I am happy that they invited me. I am happy to celebrate with them," she said.
