Haryana Hit And Run: Man Rams Car Into Cop On Patrol Duty, Arrested
The injured policeman, who was run over by a car in Karnal, was rushed to the hospital and was given treatment.
Haryana News: A policeman was injured after a car ran over him in Haryana’s Karnal, police said on Monday. The incident took place at around 3:30 AM when the police cordoned off the area on Kachhwa Road in Karnal. The injured policeman was rushed to the hospital and was given treatment.
The car driver was taken into custody following the incident. According to a senior police official, a car reached the spot, and when the policeman tried to stop the car, the driver, instead of stopping the vehicle, tried to run over the policeman, news agency ANI reported on Tuesday. The video of the incident was shared on social media.
Speaking to ANI, Mohit Handa, SP Karnal, said, "In the morning, around 3:30 am, when police had cordoned off the area in Kachhwa Road, a car reached the spot. The policeman present there tried to stop the car, but the driver, instead of stopping the vehicle, tried to run over the policeman. The patrol team quickly found the driver and took him into custody. The policeman has suffered injuries, and he is undergoing treatment at a hospital. The driver is being interrogated. We will ensure that he receives maximum punishment."

Meanwhile, the Haryana government tightened security and ordered the suspension of mobile internet and bulk SMS services in the Nuh district ahead of the Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra. This suspension will continue till 6 pm on July 22, 2024.
Following last year's violence during the event, this decision came to prevent the spread of misinformation and rumours through various social media platforms, such as WhatsApp, Facebook Twitter, etc. on mobile phones and SMS.
