Ghaziabad Maid Reveals Why She Mixed Urine In Employers' Food: 'Wanted To Take Revenge For...'

The incident came to light after the real estate businessman's wife grew concerned when several family members began experiencing liver issues.

Ghaziabad: A day after the shocking incident surfaced in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad where a maid was arrested for allegedly mixing her urine into dough meant for making rotis, the police has now shared the reason why she did so.

The 32-year-old accused Reena had been working for a local businessman's family in a residential society for the last eight years. However, the family was completely unaware of what was happening right under their nose.

It was only after Rupam Gautam, wife of the real estate businessman Nitin Gautam, grew suspicious that the incident was brought to the fore. With several family members experiencing liver issues, she became concerned as to why everyone was suffering with the same problem.

After suspecting the maid's role in it, the family decided to install a hidden camera in the kitchen to know what was actually happening. However, what they saw shocked them to their core. In the video footage captured on Nitin Gautam's mobile phone, the maid Reena could be allegedly seen mixing urine with the flour used for making rotis.

After getting the evidence recorded on the video, the family lodged a complaint, which led to Reena's arrest.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Wave City, Lipi Nagaich, the house help initially denied the allegations being levelled against her. However, when she was shown the video footage recorded by the family, she finally confessed. During the interrogation, it was revealed that she did so as she wanted to take revenge for being scolded frequently for small mistakes.

"During interrogation, the maid initially denied the allegations. However, upon being confronted with the video, she confessed to her actions. The maid claimed she was motivated by revenge after being frequently scolded by her employer for minor mistakes," ACP Nagaich said.

Reena has been charged under Section 272 of the Indian Penal Code for adulteration of food or drink, which could potentially spread diseases hazardous to life, NDTV reported.

She was arrested on October 15 by Crossings Republic Police Station team.

ACP Nagaich said that further action is being undertaken against the accused house help. "On 14th October, a written complaint was lodged at Crossings Republic PS by a complainant that a domestic help at her flat, Reena mixed urine to make flour dough. A case under relevant sections was registered at the PS. Teams were formed to arrest the accused. She was arrested from GH-7 society on 15th October. Further action is being undertaken," she said.
