Four Fraudsters Posing As 'Sadhus' Dupe Chartered Accountant Of His Gold Ring In Delhi, Arrested
The police said that the fraudsters claim to be high priests from the Haridwar Akhara and convinced Gagan Jain that his gold ring was defective.

Four men who allegedly posed as sadhus duped a Chartered Accountant of his gold ring near the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
The victim, 32-year-old Gagan Jain, had come to Delhi for a conference when the fraudsters, dressed as priests, approached him near a hotel in the Aerocity.
The police said that the fraudsters claim to be high priests from the Haridwar Akhara and convinced Gagan Jain that his gold ring was defective, The Indian Express reported.
"The accused introduced themselves as high priests from the Haridwar Akhara, claiming to be well-versed in Vedic knowledge. They convinced Gagan that his gold ring was defective and needed to be handed over for good fortune," Additional Commissioner of Police (IGI) Usha Rangnani said.
Jain said that the priests also offered him to apply a tilak on his forehead. However, they convinced the victim to hand over his gold ring to him.
“Fearing the sadhus’ threats, Gagan then handed over his ring. The fraudsters instructed him not to look back or else he would suffer misfortune. Later, realising he had been deceived, Gagan reported the incident to the police,” the police official said.
The police launched an investigation, reviewed the CCTV footage and traced the suspects to Mahipalpur.
The police arrested Rinku Nath (30), Sahil Nath (22), Rocky Nath (35), and Vickey Nath (31), who admitted to have commit the crime.
They further claimed that they had been impersonating sadhus to deceive people. The police also said that during questioning, the four men admitted that they were relatives and belonged to the Sapera community.
