Faith Or Fraud? 'Start-Up' Sells ‘Digital Snan’ For ₹1,100 If You Can't Make It To Maha Kumbh — Viral Video
A startup founder offers a "digital snan" service, claiming it provides salvation. For a fee, people can send photos to be dipped in the Triveni Sangam.

Do you want to take a holy dip at Maha Kumbh but are unable to visit Prayagraj? Maybe there is a 'digital' solution now for washing away your sins, or so claims a 'start-up' founder offering a 'digital snan' — albeit for a premium — for you to attain salvation.
This Maha Kumbh has seen several experiments by individuals to make a quick buck. From a vlogger setting up a tea stall and earning Rs 5,000 per day profit and a man selling datuns (Neem wood sticks to brush teeth) to earn Rs 30,000 in five days, to bikers offering rides at Rs 200-Rs 500 per trip of 10 km — people are working smart to earn quick bucks.
At the same time, there is no dearth of people falling prey to 'innovations' designed to entrap them. A 'start-up founder' is now going viral for offering a one-stop solution for 'salvation'. The man, identifying himself as Deepak Goel, claims to have founded a company called 'Prayag Enterprises', which helps people take a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam. According to his scheme, people sitting in their homes can take the holy bath without even getting wet!

How Does A 'Digital Photo Snan' Work?
Deepak says he goes to the Triveni Sangam every day. To take a 'digital dip', the devotee can send Deepak his or her photo on WhatsApp. Deepak will take a printout of the person's photo and dip it at the Triveni Sangam, which would qualify as a 'holy snan'.
As far as moneymaking schemes go, this is brilliant. However, the jury is still out on whether this will be accepted as a "holy snan" as per religious norms, for Hindu scriptures have no provision for a 'digital snan'. While at first glance, the scheme does seem to be a noble initiative, helping people especially the elderly and the disabled who can't visit Maha Kumbh, people in the know of religious practices believe it serves absolutely no purpose, especially if it's being done for money.
Why Do People Take Holy Dips?
The simplistic explanation is that a holy dip in the Ganga washes away all sins. If a dip is taken at the Triveni Sangam — the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati — it is believed to give the devotee the ultimate salvation.
But there's more to it. As per Hindu spiritual beliefs and Vedic Yoga practices, holy dips in these rivers help open up 'energy channels' (nadis) in the human body. It is said that 72,000 nadis in the body intersect at various points to form 7 chakras.
Now, of these 72,000 nadis, three are of foremost importance — Ida, Pingala, and Sushuma. These nadis correspond to mental awareness, vital functions, and inner consciousness respectively. These are said to be opened by taking a dip at the Triveni Sangam.
Hence, it's unlikely that scriptures would give their blessings to a digital dip.
What Do Netizens Feel About 'Digital Snan'?
Netizens called Deepak a fraud and sought action against such people. "There are people looting in the name of faith one after the other....what will happen to the country... even those who give them money are just making fun of religion. Action should be taken against such people," one user said. Many called for him to be jailed.
