Custom Officials Intercept Iraqi National Carrying 1.2 Kg Gold At Delhi Airport, Probe Underway
Delhi Customs intercepted a male Iraqi passenger at IGI Airport with 1.2 kg of gold concealed in his baggage. X-ray screening and DFMD check revealed the hidden gold, which was later seized.

A male Iraqi national was intercepted by the Customs Air Intelligence Unit at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Monday, carrying 1.2 Kg of gold, officials said.
According to Customs officials, the accused passenger arrived from Baghdad to Delhi by Flight No. IA-443 on April 7, and was intercepted at the exit of the green channel at Terminal 3 of IGI Airport.

The officials said that during X-ray screening of the passenger's baggage, suspicious images were observed.
"The DFMD (Door Frame Metal Detector) check of the passenger triggered a strong beep. Subsequent thorough examination of the passenger and his baggage led to the recovery of assorted yellow metal, silver-coated jewellery, suspected to be gold, weighing a total of 1203.00 grams", they said and added that the gold was found highly concealed in the baggage with intention of smuggling.
As of now further investigation is underway to ascertain the purity, valuation, and possible contraventions under the Customs Act, 1962.

On March 28, an Indian passenger arriving from Dubai to Delhi by Flight No. EK-512 was intercepted at the exit of the green channel at Terminal 3, IGI Airport.
During X-ray screening of his baggage, suspicious images were observed, and subsequent detailed examination of the baggage led to the recovery of eight DJI Mini 4 Pro Drones and six Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max.
"The recovered goods were found concealed and are of commercial quantity. Further investigation is in progress to determine the intended use and assess potential violations under the Customs Act", the Custom officials said.
