Building Collapses In Delhi’s Burari, Police Say 10 People Rescued As Nearly 15 Feared Trapped

Burari Building Collapse: An under-construction building collapsed in the Burari area, trapping several people. Fire tenders and ambulances arrived at the scene as rescue operation is launched.

Burari Building Collapse: Several fire tenders and Ambulances reached Delhi's Burari area where a four-storey building collapsed near the Oscar Public School in north Delhi's Burari on Monday evening. 

"The incident occurred around 6:56 pm, prompting an immediate response from emergency services," Delhi Fire Services (DFS) chief Atul Garg said, as per news agency PTI.

Burari Building Collapse: Delhi Police Say Around 12-15 People May Be Trapped In Debris

According to news agency ANI, Delhi Police informed that the Fire department, Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel are on the spot along with police. So far 10 people have been rescued and taken to the nearest hospital, they further stated.

Delhi: DCP (North Delhi) Raja Banthia told the media, "In Kaushik Enclave of Burari, a newly constructed four-storey building in 200 square yards area has collapsed. Police and fire teams reached the spot immediately. We got information that labourers were trapped inside the building. So far 10 people have been rescued and we expect around 12-15 people to be trapped. Rescue operation is currently underway. Police, Fire, DDMA, and NDRF are on the spot."

Earlier, Burari MLA Sanjeev Jha, who visited the spot, said, "People have been trapped due to the building collapse. Four children have been rescued, and some have sustained minor injuries. Upon reaching the site, I informed the officials. The fire department and NDRF teams have also arrived."

"There is a possibility that 8-10 people are still trapped inside. Efforts are underway to communicate with those inside, and the rescue operation will begin soon. The trapped individuals include 4-5 children from the same family along with their parents. The building was under construction," he added.
