Delhi Man Strangles Wife To Death, Arrested While On Way To Murder Her Friend

A man in Delhi killed his wife, hid her body in a bed, and was on his way to kill her friend when he was arrested.

A man in southwest Delhi killed his wife and hid her body in a bed to chop it off later. He did not stop there and was on his way to kill a friend of hers when the police arrested him.

The accused, Dhanraj who worked as a motorcycle taxi driver had killed his wife in the city's Janakpuri area over suspicion of illicit relationship. Last week, the police recovered the mutilated body of the woman with her mouth wrapped in a white bandage to avoid decomposition.

The victim was identified as Deepa Chauhan, said Deputy Commissioner of Police, adding an FIR was booked against Dhanraj on a complaint by Deepa's father, reported PTI.

During the probe, police found that Dhanraj was addicted to drinking and worked as a motorcycle taxi driver. His wife worked in a private company and bore the household expenses. According to the DCP, Deepa was friends with a male colleague at her workplace which Dhanraj objected to suspecting an extramarital relationship.

After killing Deepa, Dhanraj fled to Amritsar and police formed teams to trace him down. He was arrested while on his way back to Delhi to kill his wife's friend. He was nabbed at Karnal Bypass on Sunday, the DCP said.

According to the senior police official, Dhanraj confessed to killing Deepa during interrogation. On December 29, the couple had an argument over Deepa's friendship with his male colleague after which Dhanraj strangled Deepa to death.

He then hid her body inside a bed box and wrapped it with tape to avoid decomposition. He had planned to chop off the body into pieces which he learnt by watching videos online, the DCP said.

He had also asked for help from his friends to dispose of the body but they refused, the police official said, adding a detailed investigation is underway.
