500 Kg Cocaine Moved By International Drug Syndicate In Delhi Seized, 4 Arrested
The Delhi Police has seized a 500 kg cocaine consignment, which was being moved by members of an international drug syndicate.
Delhi Police on Wednesday made a big breakthrough in its crackdown against the drug menace. It seized a massive consignment of cocaine worth over Rs 2,000 crore. The weight of the seized consignment of cocaine was more than 500 kg. The seizure was carried out by the Delhi Police Special Cell. The cops also arrested four suspects.
According to the police, the seized cocaine was being moved by members of an international drug syndicate. The police have also started investigating a narco-terror angle. News website TOI quoted additional commissioner Pramod Singh Kushwaha as saying: "This massive seizure is a significant blow to the narcotics trade and a testament to our relentless efforts to curb drug trafficking."
The police are now interrogating the arrested suspects to establish the links to the drug syndicate.
This significant seizure comes on the heels of another operation, where two Afghan nationals were apprehended on Sunday in the Tilak Nagar area of Delhi. They were found in possession of 400 grams of heroin and 160 grams of cocaine.
On the same day, Delhi Customs intercepted a Liberian national at Indira Gandhi International Airport, confiscating 1,660 grams of cocaine worth over Rs 24 crore. The individual, who had arrived from Dubai, was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985.
Earlier in April, the Coast Guard intercepted a Pakistani vessel off the Gujarat coast and seized 86 kg of narcotics worth around Rs 600 crore in a joint operation. The overnight mission, carried out in the Arabian Sea, was a collaboration between the ICG, Gujarat's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Fourteen individuals aboard the vessel were arrested, the ICG confirmed on Sunday. This is the 11th such joint success in the past three years.
A senior police official from Gujarat later confirmed that the seized substance was heroin. The operation involved Coast Guard vessels and aircraft, with the ICG ship Rajratan playing a key role in locating the suspect vessel, in coordination with NCB and ATS officers.
