Bengaluru: Cafe Staffer Arrested For Hiding Mobile Phone With Video Recording On In Women's Washroom
Bengaluru News: The accused has put the mobile phone on flight mode and wrapped in a dustbin bag with a hole made in it so that only the camera is exposed.
Bengaluru News: An employee working at a popular coffee chain in Bengaluru has been arrested for allegedly placing a mobile phone with video recording in a dustbin in a women's washroom. A social media user, who flagged the incident on social media said that the phone was kept on flight mode so that it did not make any sound.
The accused, Manoj (23), is a resident of Bengaluru's Guttahalli and hails from Shivamogga, reported India Today. He has been working at the Third Wave Coffee shop on BEL Road, where the incident took place, for six months.
The arrest came after a woman, with an Instagram profile by the name of 'Gangs Of Cinepur', posted a story about a woman who found a mobile phone in the dustbin of a women's washroom with video recording on for around two hours.
"I was at the Third Wave Coffee outlet in Bengaluru... A woman found a phone in the washroom, hidden in the dustbin, with video recording on for about 2 hours, facing the toilet seat," the post read.
The Instagram user said that the phone was "carefully hidden in the dustbin bag and had a hole made in it" so that only the camera was exposed.
"It was quickly found that the phone belonged to one of the men working there. The police were called, and they arrived soon enough, and action is being taken," it added.
"This was so horrific to witness. I will be vigilant at any washroom I use from now on, no matter how well-known the chain of cafes or restaurants is. I request all of you to do the same. This is disgusting," the story read.
Third Wave Coffee issued a statement addressing the incident and said that it acted swiftly and terminated the man.
"We regret the unfortunate incident at our BEL Road outlet in Bengaluru and want to emphasise that such actions are absolutely unacceptable at Third Wave Coffee. We acted swiftly to address the situation by immediately terminating the person & ensuring the safety of our customers," said the coffee outlet in a post on X on Saturday.
