Wow! Momo Teams Up With Café Coffee Day To Raise The Pitch For Local Brands

Both homegrown brands have devised a commercial model to share costs and revenue, and expect to roll out the project by the end of July.

New Delhi: In an attempt to derive mutual benefit of its customer bases, the homegrown brand Café Coffee Day and the quick-service restaurant brand Wow! Momo and Wow! China, has entered into a strategic partnership with the country’s largest homegrown coffee chain, Café Coffee Day. According to the partnership, Wow! Momo kiosks will be placed in Café Coffee Day outlets across the country to widen its reach and network. In an attempt, the two homegrown brands will be offering a wider palate of innovative food offerings. Wow! Momo will follow all three traditional formats including dine-in, takeaway, and delivery in select Café Coffee Day outlets. The project is expected to be rolled out across more than 30 outlets in top cities including Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Mumbai by the end of July. Wow! Momo aims to increase the service to more Café Coffee Day outlets across the nation. In such a time when people are restricting their movements, Wow! Momo and Cafe Coffee Day are trying to bring a fresh lease of life in the QSR segment.  “The post-Covid-19 economy will see the formation of more of such symbiotic synergies under which major brands will combine their resources to sustain and scale their operations,” said Sagar Daryani, CEO & Founder, Wow! Momo & Wow! China. We find this collaboration a perfect one under Prime Minister’s push for encouraging locally grown brands -- on one hand, we have a brand that redefined coffee drinking experience in the country and on the other hand, it is Wow! Momo which has created a national chain and a category out of a roadside snack like MOMO," added Daryani. Both companies are trying to create innovative food and beverage experience for momo and coffee lovers across India. "CCD is an ideal fit for our brand as both of our menus complement each other in a deliciously satisfying way. The present development reflects our philosophy of ‘more wow every day’ which is at the core of all our initiatives," he added. Momo raised Rs 10 crore through angel funding and after 18 months, the investors took a partial exit from Wow! Momo. According to business daily Mint, Wow! Momo valuation in 2019 was at over ₹860 crore, with an infusion of ₹120 crore by Tiger Global. It has more than 345 outlets across 16 cities in the country. Café Coffee Day has 1,480 cafes across the country under the Coffee Day Global Limited, a subsidiary of Coffee Day Enterprises Limited. Café Coffee Day remains the pioneer of the coffee culture in India which had opened its first café in Bengaluru in 1996.
