'Is Mumbai, Pune Worth Shifting, Or Should I Just Leave India': Entrepreneur's Dilemma On Living In Bengaluru Goes Viral

Housing approximately 14 million residents, Bengaluru serves as the capital of Karnataka state and is frequently dubbed "India's Silicon Valley"

A Bengaluru-based entrepreneur’s dissatisfaction regarding the deteriorating condition of the city has ignited a serious online discussion. "Bangalore looks like it's gonna go to the dogs in another 5 years with bad infra bad weather, and bad water. Is Mumbai or Pune worth shifting to or should I just leave India?" articulated Anant Sharma on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

Severe water scarcity, recurrent flooding, congested roadways, and deficient civic amenities have emerged as prominent concerns in the urban landscape. Housing approximately 14 million residents, the metropolis serves as the capital of Karnataka state and is frequently dubbed "India's Silicon Valley." However, it grapples with challenges stemming from haphazard urban expansion and inadequate infrastructure.

A lot of people resonated with Sharma and several comments poured in under the post. “Probably an unpopular opinion, but it's pretty straightforward now. It's not just about weather and water. There are many other indicators. If you can afford, leave. Period,” wrote one of the users.

“Bangalore will get incrementally better,  especially because the traffic woes will start to get better in the next 3 years as the new metro lines come on stream, the areas to avoid is the crescent from hoskote road to Hosur Road, beyond that Bangalore is a wonderful city,” added another user.

A third user wrote, “So here's my prediction, Bangalore will be bigger and better in 5 years attracting even more engineering talent, better metro + Suburban rail, while people keep ranting about how it's going to go to dogs 5 years after that.”

Sharma reverted to this user and wrote, “More people, more talent for sure. Metro + rail idk maybe 15 yrs not 5. It'll probably grow in size also. But what made Bangalore lovable 20 years ago was very different.”

The user again reverted back, “Bengaluru now is a city of 1.4cr people it won't resemble what it once was, weather + aqi is still better than any other metro, a  good chunk of metro and Suburban will be done in 5-7 years too, if Bangalore solves transit other cities aren't even a competition.”
