Tesla has introduced its premium electric SUV, the Model Y, as the first offering for the Indian market. The base rear-wheel drive version is priced at Rs 59.89 lakh

Tesla has officially launched online orders for its vehicles in India, marking a major milestone in its entry into India’s fastest-growing electric vehicle (EV) market. In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Tesla India announced that customers across nearly all Indian states and Union Territories can now place orders directly through its official website. The post was later reshared by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, further confirming the move.

Pan-India Availability With City-Based Delivery Rollout

As per the announcement, Tesla vehicles will now be accessible to residents in a wide range of regions, including Maharashtra, Delhi, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, among many others. The rollout covers both metropolitan hubs and smaller states like Sikkim, Manipur, and Mizoram.

However, Tesla has stated that initial deliveries will be prioritised for customers registering vehicles in four major cities: Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Gurugram. These cities will be among the first to see Tesla cars on the road, as part of the company's phased delivery strategy.

To complement its digital sales model, Tesla has opened its first physical showroom—called a “Tesla Experience Centre”—at Maker Maxity Mall in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), one of the city's prime commercial zones.
