Stock Market Closed: Here’s Why BSE, NSE Will Not Witness Any Trading Today

There will be no action in the Equity Segment, Equity Derivative Segment and SLB Segment. Trading in Currency Derivatives Segment and Interest Rate Derivatives segment will also remain suspended.

The domestic stock markets will remain closed today on the account of Diwali Balipratipad, according to the information available on the official BSE website. The two major stock exchanges Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange will remain closed for the entire session on Wednesday.

On the occasion of Balipratipad, there will be no trading activity today. Balipratipada is observed on the fourth day of Diwali. It falls on the first day of the bright fortnight of the Hindu lunar month Kartik.

There will be no trading action in the Equity Segment, Equity Derivative Segment and SLB Segment as well. Meanwhile, trading in Currency Derivatives Segment and Interest Rate Derivatives segment will not be performed today. In the Commodity segment, trading at Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will remain closed in the first half on all three stock market holidays while trading will open in the second half from 5 pm (evening session) today.

The stock exchanges will remain closed next month on November 8. This will also be the last holiday of this year. "There will be no action in the Equity Segment, Equity Derivative Segment, and SLB Segment" on the stock market holidays, according to the information available on BSE website.

Meanwhile, the equity market closed lower on Tuesday after witnessing a seven-day rally amid weak Asian market cues and mixed trends. The BSE benchmark didn’t sustain the early gains and slipped 287.7 points to close at 59,543.9. NSE Nifty fell 0.4 per cent to end at 17,656.

Meanwhile, the rupee appreciated 7 paise to close at 82.81 (provisional) against the US dollar on Tuesday on the back of easing crude oil prices supported by investor sentiments.

The one-hour special Muhurat trading session on Monday that marked the beginning of Hindu Samvat year 2079 saw the BSE benchmark gain 524.5 points to end at 59,831.6. The Nifty advanced 0.8 per cent to finish at 17,730.
