Snapdeal's Kunal Bahl Criticises 'Blatant Use Of ChatGPT' In Job Applications; Here's What He Said

Bahl's post sparked a mixed reaction on social media. Some users argued that it shouldn't matter if applicants use AI tools as long as they are qualified for the role

Kunal Bahl, co-founder of Snapdeal and Titan Capital, expressed concern over the blatant use of ChatGPT in job applications. For a recent job posting, he received approximately 1,000 applications, and it was evident that many applicants relied heavily on the AI tool, he said in a social media post on X (formerly Twitter).

"We put out a job opening for an investment professional at Titan Capital and received ~1000 applications. The blatant use of ChatGPT in many of them is so obvious, it's concerning—will AI breed lethargy as its biggest fallout?" he wrote in his post.

Bahl's post sparked a mixed reaction on social media. Some users argued that it shouldn't matter if applicants use AI tools as long as they are qualified for the role. Others, however, raised concerns about the integrity of job seekers who can't make necessary adjustments to a ChatGPT-generated document.

One X user wrote, “Haha You are using AI to filter out applications and they are using AI as an antidote to your process, there is nothing wrong in it and in fact this is better approach also to candidates.”

“I think the most significant loss is human cognition over time because intelligence will be abundant in future. In the 90s, solving mathematical calculations (quick add and mul) was an important skill, but not now because of the calculator in everyone's pocket,” added another user.

Another user responded humorously, saying that he filled out the form halfway and then found it difficult to continue, so he took the help of ChatGPT instead. The user wrote, “There were a bunch of questions in the form which actually take a lot of time, and probably use of ChatGPT. I filled half of the form and got vexed to continue. Why are you interested in joining TitanCapital? Really? Don’t you know the most common answer?”
