PV Dispatches Surge 4% In November, Demand Steady Post-Festive Season: SIAM

On the two-wheeler front, wholesale numbers declined by 1 per cent year-on-year to 16,04,749 units, down from 16,23,399 units in November 2023, according to the SIAM data

Passenger vehicle dispatches from manufacturers to dealerships increased by 4 per cent year-on-year (YoY), reaching 3,47,522 units in November, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on Friday. This rise in dispatches indicates that the demand for passenger vehicles has remained strong, continuing the positive momentum observed following the festive season in October.

Overall passenger vehicle dispatches totalled 3,33,833 units in November last year. Market leader Maruti Suzuki India shipped 1,41,312 units to its dealers in November, reflecting a 5 per cent increase from 1,34,158 units in the same month last year.

In contrast, Hyundai Motor India's dispatches fell to 48,246 units last month, compared to 49,451 units in November 2023. Meanwhile, Mahindra & Mahindra recorded a 16 per cent increase in sales, with 46,222 units dispatched in November, up from 39,981 units in the previous year.

On the two-wheeler front, wholesale numbers declined by 1 per cent year-on-year to 16,04,749 units, down from 16,23,399 units in November 2023. However, scooter sales saw a 12 per cent rise, reaching 5,68,580 units, while bike dispatches fell 7.5 per cent to 9,90,246 units. Moped sales increased by 6 per cent, with 45,923 units dispatched last month, up from 43,482 units in November 2023.

Lastly, total three-wheeler dispatches also dropped by 1 per cent year-on-year, reaching 59,350 units in November, according to SIAM data.

SIAM Director General Rajesh Menon said, "The demand momentum which was seen in October during the festive period has continued in November for the industry as a whole, although two-wheeler and three-wheeler segments witnessed minor de-growth in November 2024.”

Passenger vehicle sales reached their highest level ever in November 2024, at 3.48 lakh units, a growth of 4.1 per cent compared to November 2023.

Although Diwali did not fall in November 2024, the two-wheeler segment achieved impressive sales of 16.05 lakh units, surpassing the 16 lakh mark for the first time in a non-Diwali November, according to Menon.
