Initially the system will be implemented in 100 smart cities with the pilot project being implemented in Jaipur (Rajasthan).

In order to prevent theft and ensure better identification of customers, home delivery of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinder will undergo a major change. Till now, consumers were able to book a LPG cylinder without authenticating the delivery but from November you will have to provide a one-time password (OTP) at the time of delivery at your doorstep. • As per the report in the national daily Hindustan Times, oil companies are going to implement a new system known as Delivery Authentication Code (DAC). The system is aimed at preventing theft and also identifying the right customer.
  • Initially, the system will be implemented in 100 smart cities with the pilot project being implemented in Jaipur (Rajasthan).
  • With a view to stopping the theft of LPG cylinders, the delivery shall not be deemed complete after code is shown to the delivery person on the consumer's registered mobile number. The code will be sent in the mobile number of the consumer.
  • In case, you have changed the mobile number then make sure to get it changed with the gas agency otherwise it will lead to non-delivery of LPG cylinders.
  • The consumers should also update the address of their residence if the address mentioned with the gas agency is different from the one in which they are residing.
  • Note, that the Delivery Authentication Code(DAC) will not be applicable for commercial LPG cylinders.
India is expected to overtake China as the world's largest cooking gas LPG residential sector market by 2030, according to the research and consultancy group Wood Mackenzie. The demand for Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) demand in the residential sector will witness sustainable growth at a cumulative annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.3 per cent. It will touch 34 million tonnes (MT) in 2030 as households' dependence on solid biomass decreases in the long run with the improvement in average household incomes and urban population. The government is also supporting schemes to help lower-income families cope with the cost of switching from dirtier biomass to LPG.
