Organic Farming: How A Grassroots Movement Is Boosting Agriculture & Strengthening Rural Economy

Organic farming has environmental benefits too. This method leads to improved soil quality, cleaner water, and enhanced biodiversity.

Organic Farming: Patanjali Ayurved claims that its organic farming movement is transforming Indian agriculture by promoting sustainability and empowering farmers. According to the company, it is working under the leadership of Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna to strengthen and modernise the country’s farming practices.

Training Farmers in Organic Techniques Through Samriddhi Programme

The company states, "Patanjali’s Kisan Samriddhi Programme teaches farmers organic farming methods. It includes simple techniques like crop rotation, making green manure, and preparing compost. These practices help reduce the need for chemical fertilisers. Patanjali has developed organic fertilisers and soil-enhancing products that keep crops strong and healthy."

Digital App and Contract Farming Offer Better Prices

Patanjali also says that its digital initiatives are giving farmers better access to markets. "Through Patanjali’s contract farming and digital app, farmers get accurate pricing and market information.

The company buys crops directly from farmers without middlemen, which increases their income. In addition, Patanjali is empowering rural women by training them to grow medicinal plants," the company explained.

Organic Farming Improves Soil Health and Water Quality

Patanjali maintains that organic farming has environmental benefits too. It says this method leads to improved soil quality, cleaner water, and enhanced biodiversity.

The company adds that by blending traditional Indian agricultural knowledge with modern technology, it is helping preserve cultural heritage.

Strengthening the Village Economy Through Sustainable Agriculture

According to Patanjali, "This initiative is improving farmers' lives and strengthening the village economy. It could make India a global leader in organic farming. Experts believe Patanjali’s model could change the future of agriculture, leading to a healthier environment and prosperous farming for future generations."
