Mahashivratri 2022 Holiday: Banks in India remain closed on public holidays while banks in some states remain closed on specific holidays. Apart from this, there are some holidays on which banks across the country remain closed. 

Mahashivratri is an important festival in Hindu culture. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva and his wife Goddess Parvati were married on this day. The festival is celebrated in different ways across the country. However, all the banks across the country will not be closed on this day. Let's know banks in which states of the country will remain closed on account of Mahashivratri.

Banks in these states to remain closed on Mahashivratri.

  • Delhi: Banks in the national capital will remain closed on the occasion of Mahashivratri. 
  • Maharashtra- Mahashivratri has been declared as a bank holiday in the state of Maharashtra on March 1.
  • Uttar Pradesh- Banks in UP will also remain closed on the Hindu festival of Mahashivratri.
  • Bihar- There will be a holiday in banks on the occasion of Mahashivratri in Bihar.
  • Himachal Pradesh- In the hill state of Himachal Pradesh there is a public holiday on Mahashivratri. 
  • Apart from these, most of the banks will remain closed in states like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand on Mahashivratri.

Banks will be closed for these many days in March.

It may be noted that several days in the month of March will mark bank holidays. So you should complete your bank-related work before these dates. These are the dates in March on which the banks will remain shut.

  • March 6 - Banks to remain closed due to Sunday.
  • March 12- Banks to remain closed due to second Saturday.
  • March 13 - There will be a bank holiday as it is a Sunday.
  • March 20: Banks to be closed due to Sunday.
  • March 26- As it is the fourth Saturday, there will be a holiday in banks.
  • March 27 - Banks will remaine closed as it is a Sunday.
