Maha Kumbh 2025 Crowd Gives 'Neem Datoon' Vendor A '40 Crore' Business Idea, See Viral Video

Prayagraj: Maha Kumbh 2025, world's largest religious gathering, is expecting 400 mn devotees, presenting huge economic opportunities. Viral video demonstrates profitability of selling 'neem datoon'.

Prayagraj News: The highly anticipated Mahakumbh Mela 2025 officially kicked off in Prayagraj on Monday, and is set to become the largest gathering of people in the world. Running until February, this once-in-144-years religious event expects a footfall of around 400 million devotees, according to the Uttar Pradesh government's estimates. The fair is expected to generate a revenue of Rs 2 lakh crore, creating opportunities for many people to earn money.

Several videos are circulating on social media platforms showing how this much-awaited event can give some small vendors a chance to make good money.

One of the videos going viral on social media shows a person selling ‘neem datoon’ (Azadirachta indica stems used as a toothbrush) at Mahakumbh Mela 2025 and suggesting why this is a good business idea.

In the video, the man can be seen selling the ‘need datoon’ for Re 1 each and telling the viewers how they can make a lot of money doing this. With nearly 40 crore people set to visit the Mahakumbh Mela, one can earn lakhs even if they sell one 'datoon' to each buyer for Re 1. Besides, the input cost for the business is zero since anyone can get the ‘Neem’ sticks from any tree in their locality (Neem trees are found very commonly in Indian homes or streets).

The video has garnered several views and funny comments. One user wrote: “Zero investment, selling price is Rs 1.00. Catching a person and selling him means stopping him, convincing him, taking the money, giving change, all this will take at least 1 minute?? 14 hours of day × 60 minutes makes 840 minutes of day and if Kumbha will stay for 45 days then 840 × 45 = 37,800. Cannot earn more than 50,000.”

Another user added: “How much time will it take when 45 crore people stand in line to buy these toothpicks? It takes 1 second to give it to one person, which means that many toothpicks will be sold in about 5000 years. Then if one toothpick weighs 5 grams, then a total of 22 lakh kilograms of toothpicks will have to be bought. Brother, this deal is not bad.”
