'Voting Is An Extraordinary Right Given To Citizens,' Says Infosys Co-Founder Narayana Murthy; Urges Everyone To Vote

"I urge everyone to come and vote. This is an extraordinary right given to citizens by the Constitution, and one can choose whoever they want to be the right leader. You have to vote, " He said

Narayana Murthy, co-founder of Infosys, along with his wife and Rajya Sabha member Sudha Murty, arrived at the Jayanagar polling booth to cast his vote early Friday morning at 7 am. The tech icon has consistently observed this routine during elections and serves as an inspiration for the youth, promoting respect for the democratic rights of citizens. After casting his vote, Murthy encouraged others to participate in exercising their democratic rights.

“Once in five years, we get an opportunity to execute the right given by our Constitution to choose whatever candidate from whichever party he or she is to govern us. Therefore, today is a very happy day. Today is a day when we should all be enthusiastic to exercise that power," he told news agency ANI.

"I urge everyone to come and vote. This is an extraordinary right given to citizens by the Constitution, and one can choose whoever they want to be the right leader. You have to vote, " He said.

Sudha Murty also appealed to voters to participate in the electoral process. "I'm asking with folded hands that everyone please vote, if at 73, I can vote, then everyone can vote especially the youngsters," she emphasised.

The Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka announced on X (formerly Twitter) that Narayana Murthy obtained “permission from hospital authorities to leave and cast his vote."

“Infosys co-founder NR Narayan Murthy, 77, set an inspiring example by requesting permission from hospital authorities to leave and cast his vote, showcasing his commitment as a citizen of the country,” the Chief Electoral Officer wrote on X.

Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murty cast their votes at a designated polling station in Jayanagar, an area within the notable Bengaluru South constituency.

Among the early voters in Bengaluru were Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, cricketing legend Rahul Dravid, actor Prakash Raj, and Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Meena.
