Healthtech Start-up Dozee Fires Several Employees Across Departments: Report

Founded in 2015 by Mudit Dandwate and Gaurav Parchani, Dozee developed a contactless patient monitoring system that allows healthcare workers to remotely track vital signs

Healthtech start-up Dozee reportedly conducted a restructuring exercise last month, resulting in the layoff of approximately 40-50 employees in an effort to reduce losses. The layoffs affected staff across various departments, including the on-field and customer success teams, as well as the sales and marketing teams, according to an Inc24 report citing sources.

“We were told that the layoffs had nothing to do with our performance. The restructuring was being done to cut losses,” one of the sources said in the report. Affected employees will receive severance packages under their respective notice periods.

The startup employed approximately 250-270 people before the layoffs, as per the report.

In response to Inc42's inquiries, a Dozee spokesperson said there was no overall reduction in workforce. Instead, the startup noted that there was a reallocation of resources, impacting only a "very small number" of its employees.

“The figures you’ve referenced are entirely unfounded. As part of our growth strategy, we are reallocating resources with a greater focus on HealthAI, clinical research, and international business development. Reallocation of resources with evolving business needs is a natural part of the life cycle in the growth journey of any organisation. This has affected a very minuscule number of our total headcount,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

The sources mentioned in the report state that these layoffs are caused by the startup's inability to scale its revenue. “Despite having a presence across the country, the revenue growth is tepid, and the loss has grown multifold,” said one of the sources in the report.

Founded in 2015 by Mudit Dandwate and Gaurav Parchani, Dozee developed a contactless patient monitoring system that allows healthcare workers to remotely track vital signs, including heart rate, respiration rate, blood pressure, and temperature. The system also features an early warning mechanism that notifies doctors of any clinical deterioration in a patient's condition.
