Delhi Electric Vehicle Parking: According to the current direction under the EV policy, all complexes have been given till December to upgrade their systems, and a subsidy of up to Rs 6,000 per charging point will be given to such complexes.
New Delhi: With a view to push adoption of eletcric vehicles, most establishments with a parking capacity of 100 vehicles in the national capital has to set aside 5 per cent of parking capacity for electric vehicles (EV) with suitable EV chargers.
The Delhi Power Ministry on Friday directed all buildings like malls, shopping complexes, cinema halls/multiplexes, office spaces, hotels, restaurants, hospitals with parking capacity of over 100 vehicles to set aside at least 5 per cent of parking capacity for electric vehicles (EV) with suitable EV chargers.

The state government has issued formal orders in this regard. According to the order issued by the Ministry of Energy, the Delhi government, 5 per cent of the parking capacity has to be reserved for electric vehicles and slow electric chargers have to be arranged in the parking lot.
According to the order, under the EV policy, all the complexes have been given till December to upgrade their systems. Also, a subsidy of up to Rs 6,000 per charging point will be given to such complexes. With this decision, it is expected that more than 10 thousand electric vehicle chargers will be available in Delhi by December.
In February, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also announced that all departments of the Delhi government will now use only electric vehicles, and the transition to EVs will be done within the next six months. The government, which has over 2,000 cars in its fleet, hopes its decision will inspire other cities in the country and the world to tackle the issues of pollution and climate change with the urgency they deserve, Manish Sisodia said.
The deveopment came a day amid the Aam Aadmi Party-led government launching a campaign, 'Switch Delhi', to encourage private vehicle owners to take a pledge to shift to electric vehicles and install a charging point within their premises in the next three years.
