Marvel Announces More NFTs: Limited Edition Collectibles Featuring Spider-Man, Black Panther On Offer

Marvel has partnered with earlier collaborators VeVe to auction its latest NFTs.

NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, are gaining immense popularity among brands and celebrities alike. To continue cashing in on the emerging promotional outlet, Marvel Entertainment has announced its plans to launch a new collection of NFTs, in association with digital collectibles platform VeVe. Marvel had earlier worked with VeVe to launch a series of NFTs back in 2021. VeVe has also collaborated with Marvel rival DC Comics as well as Walt Disney. As per CoinMarketCap data, NFTs have a global market cap of over $2.2 billion, at the time of writing, which reflects the immense popularity of the sector at present.

As part of the latest drop, three new NFTs have been launched by Marvel and VeVe, featuring Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Miles Morales. All three NFTs were put up for silent auction on August 29 and bids will be welcomed until September 2. The auction has a starting bid of $1,500 per artwork.

The first NFT, titled “Amazing Spider-Man #1”, has been designed by cartoonist Skottie Young, who has been drawing comics and covers for Marvel for over two decades. “The initial drawing of Spider-Man was done digitally. I printed that out in light blue onto an 11x17 Bristol board and finished it traditionally with brush and ink. Finally, the original piece of art is scanned back into my computer and digitally coloured,” Young said on his artwork.

The second NFT, titled “Black Panther #25”, has been designed by Brian Stelfreeze, who is best known for the reboot of Black Panther series for Marvl Comics. The NFT on auction is the cover image of Black Panther volume 7.

The final NFT, titled “Miles Morales: Spider-Man #25”, has been designed by multiple Stan Lee Award-winner Sara Pichelli, who’s best known for co-creating the new Spider-Man, Miles Morales.

During silent auctions, bid values are kept hidden from other participants. When the auction timer expires, the bidder with the highest amount wins. All bids are placed via VeVe’s own platform.

As mentioned, Marvel had earlier collaborated with VeVe, bringing out NFTs on Spider-Man, Captain America, and more.
