Along with it, the prices of most other popular altcoins have also plunged worryingly, including the likes of Ethereum (ETH), Dogecoin (DOGE), Ripple (XRP), and Solana (SOL). On the other hand, the Polygoin (MATIC) token turned out to be the biggest gainer over the past 24 hours, along with other lesser known altcoins such as Loopring and Nexo.

At the time of writing, the global crypto market cap stood at $886.56 billion as per CoinMarketCap data, registering a 24-hour dip of 3.45 percent.

Edul Patel, the CEO and Co-Founder of crypto exchange Mudrex, told ABP Live, “Bitcoin dropped below the $20,000 level on Monday, as prices continued to slip for another consecutive day. If the price drops below the current level, we might see BTC falling to $18,000 as bearish sentiment persists in the market. While on the other side, the bullish sentiment was nowhere seen for Ethereum as it dropped below the$1,100 level reversing its weekly gains. If ETH fails to sustain above the $1,140 level, we might see it plunge to even to the $900 as the buying strength has declined over the past few days.”

Commenting on the market scenario on Monday, Sathvhik Vishwanath, the CEO and Co-Founder of crypto exchange Unocoin, told ABP Live, "The dip seen on Sunday continued on Monday as well and contributed to market cap loss of up to 4 percent on Monday alone. The same pattern can be seen during last weekend as well. Subsequent similar patterns over weeks could mean a new status quo in prices and should be waited and watched."
