Coronavirus: PM Modi Thanks Mukesh & Nita Ambani For Reliance Industries' Contribution To PM-CARES Fund

Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) have taken many initiatives to ensure that the nation remains strong in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday thanked Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani for the contribution by Reliance Industries towards PM CARES fund in the battle against Coronavirus pandemic. "The entire Reliance team has been making effective contributions in the fight against COVID-19. Be it in healthcare or assisting people, they have been active. I thank Mukesh and Nita Ambani Ji for contributing to PM-CARES and for their other work towards defeating Coronavirus," PM Modi tweeted. PM Modi also thanked people from all quarters of life, including businessmen, film stars and sportsmen, who extended their support to the government. Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) on Monday, announced a donation of Rs. 500 crore to PM CARES Fund to help the government in fight against the deadly and fast-spreading COVID-19. RIL also said in a statement that in addition to the donation, in response to PM Modi's call, the company have taken many initiatives to ensure that the nation remains strong in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic. A few of them are mentioned below:
  1. The company is distributing essential supplies to millions of people in the country via Reliance Retail
  2. RIL has decided to provide free fuel across India to notified emergency vehicles.
  3. The company will give free 1 lakh masks daily to caregivers and workers.
  4. Nation's 1st 100-bed coronavirus Hospital to handle positive cases.
  5. Helping millions of people connect via 'work from home', 'study from home' initiatives
In addition, the company has also contributed Rs 5 crore each to Maharashtra and Gujarat for the cause. "RIL continues its 24x7, multi-pronged, on-the-ground effort to do its bit to ensure the nation remains prepared, fed, supplied, safe, connected and motivated to fight and win against the unprecedented challenges brought upon by the coronavirus pandemic," a company statement said. Mukesh Ambani, RIL Chairman and Managing Director, said: "We are confident that India will conquer the coronavirus crisis sooner rather than later. The entire Reliance Industries team is with the nation in this hour of crisis and will do everything to win this battle against Covid-19". Nita Ambani, Founder Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, said, "The need of the hour is also for us to support our marginalised and daily wage communities. Through our meal distribution programme, we aim to feed lakhs of people daily across the country."
