Cognizant's Job Package Earns Criticism From Netizens, Momo Shop Owner Offers To Pay More To Helper

The company recently announced an off-campus recruitment campaign, however, offered an annual package of Rs 2.5 lakh for the job. This earned the firm major criticism from Netizens

A recent job offer by Cognizant became the topic of conversation amongst Netizens and received a lot of criticism on social media. The company recently announced an off-campus recruitment campaign, however, the offer left people on the internet unimpressed.

Sharing the information in a post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, on Tuesday, the user, Indian Tech & Infra, informed that the firm plans to hire candidates from the 2024 batch in an off-campus hiring drive and the deadline for the same is August 14. However, the catch was the salary offered by the IT firm of Rs 2.5 lakh per annum.

This attracted a lot of criticism as the yearly salary comes up to Rs 20,000 per month for the applicants. One of the users sarcastically commented, “2.52 LPA is very generous. What will the graduates do with so much money.” Typically, the IT industry offers freshers annual packages ranging from Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 4 lakh.

Meanwhile, Amit Misra, the founder and CEO of Dazeinfo, compared the salary being offered by the IT giant with the package on offer by the owner of a momo shop.

Another user commented on the post that this package was being offered to 2002 batchmates after they passed college. “This package was offered to 2002 batches. No House, No free commutation, No Free Food. All this to be managed in just 18 to 19K rupees after PF deduction in metro Cities,” the post read.
