India's Coal Production Recorded At 84.63 Million Metric Tonnes In June

India's coal production reached 84.63 million metric tonnes (provisional) in June 2024, showing a growth rate of 14.49 per cent compared to the corresponding period in the previous year, when it was 73.92 million metric tonnes, according to the coal ministry.
During the same month, Coal India Limited (CIL) achieved a coal production of 63.10 million metric tonnes (provisional), indicating an increase of 8.87 per cent from the previous year's production of 57.96 million metric tonnes. Additionally, coal production by captive and other entities in June 2024 reached 16.03 million metric tonnes (provisional), registering a growth of 55.49 per cent compared to the previous year's production of 10.31 million metric tonnes.
The ministry further revealed that in June 2024, India's coal dispatches reached 85.76 million metric tonnes (provisional), marking an increase of 10.15 per cent compared to the same period last year, when it was recorded at 77.86 million metric tonnes. CIL dispatched 64.10 million metric tonnes (provisional) of coal during June 2024, showing a growth of 5.41 per cent from the corresponding period in the previous year, when it was 60.81 million metric tonnes.
Additionally, coal dispatches by captive and other entities in June 2024 were recorded at 16.26 million metric tonnes (provisional), reflecting a growth of 43.84 per cent compared to the previous year's dispatch of 11.30 million metric tonnes.
Furthermore, as of June 30, 2024, the coal stock held by coal companies saw a significant increase, reaching 95.02 million metric tonnes (provisional). This surge highlights an impressive annual growth rate of 41.68 per cent, underscoring the robust performance and efficiency of the coal sector. Simultaneously, the coal stock at Thermal Power Plants (TPP) also saw a notable rise to 46.70 million metric tonnes (Provisional) on the same date, reflecting an annual growth rate of 30.15 per cent, states the coal ministry.
In line with the Prime Minister's vision of "Atma Nirbhar Bharat," the Ministry of Coal is steadfastly pursuing strategic initiatives and relentless efforts to advance towards sustainable development and achieve self-reliance in the energy sector.
