Delhi Government spent Rs 52.52 crore on the advertisement of the Entrepreneurial Mindset Curriculum (EMC) scheme, a program to develop “entrepreneurial mindset” among school students, reported ANI citing a Delhi government source. The report said that the Arvind Kejriwal government allocated Rs 56.14 crores to schools for giving seed grants to students for developing business ideas. Many schools returned the grants.
In 2019-20, the Delhi government introduced Entrepreneurial Mindset Curriculum for classes 9 to 12. The Business Blasters program became the flagship project of the scheme in which students work on business projects with seed money of Rs. 2000 provided to them by the government.
Now the report said that the project was allocated Rs 60 crore for the year 2021-2022. Only Rs 56.14 crore were disbursed to schools for giving seed grants of Rs 2000 per student for rolling out any business idea.
"Many schools returned Rs 26 crore out of the total Rs 56 crore," it added.
ANI report also said that the Delhi government spent Rs 52.52 crore on ads for this Scheme.
The report cited an internal report of the Arvind Kejriwal Government on the Entrepreneurial Mindset Curriculum.
Last year the government also launched a web application for heads of schools, teachers, and Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum (EMC) coordinators to access EMC-related teaching-learning material.
In April this year, Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who is also States education minister said that Bhutan has shown keen interest in adopting the Delhi government’s Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum (EMC) framework in schools there.
He said, "We are deeply inspired by the Bhutan government and the importance that they give to the happiness of Bhutan residents. Drafting of the EMC was the second step of our Happiness Curriculum with a goal to develop a happy and economically sound nation."
