Adani Power Gets LOI For 6600 MW Solar, Thermal Power Supply To Maharashtra

Under the agreement, Adani Green will sign a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the MSEDCL and supply 5 GW of solar power from its energy park at Khavda, Gujarat

Adani Group announced on Sunday that Adani Power and Adani Green will ink agreements with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to supply solar and thermal power to the state. The state distribution company also issued a Letter of Intent (LOI) for 6600 MW to Adani Power.

Under the agreement, Adani Green will sign a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the MSEDCL and supply 5 GW of solar power from its energy park at Khavda, Gujarat, currently under development. Adani Power Limited will provide 1496 MW thermal power to Maharashtra from a new thermal power project as part of a separate agreement.

Notably, Maharashtra has been a leading name in the solar energy landscape in the country. Adani Green began supplying power to Mumbai city with green energy in March 2023 from its wind-solar hybrid cluster in Jaisalmer. The overall share of renewable energy in Mumbai’s distribution circle energy mix touched 37 per cent, as of June 2024.
