Toyota Innova Hycross vs Fortuner: Which One To Go For
The styling of the Innova Hycross is muscular and Toyota has made it closer to an SUV now. The Fortuner continues to remain butch but the Innova Hycross almost matches it.
Difference between Innova Crysta and Fortuner was clearly visible with the former being a practical MVP while the latter being butch-looking tough SUV. However, with the Innova Hycross leaning towards the SUV end of things, a comparison with its Fortuner sibling was very much inevitable. Here's a look.
Toyota Innova Hycross vs Fortuner: Which is bigger?
The gap has reduced considerably between the Fortuner and Innova Hycross now with the latter looking like the bigger sibling. The styling of the Innova Hycross is muscular and Toyota has made it closer to an SUV now. The Fortuner continues to remain butch but the Innova Hycross almost matches it. The same can be said for the dimensions as the Innova Hycross is almost as big as the Fortuner in terms of the length or width with only the ground clearance being a big difference between the two.
Toyota Innova Hycross vs Fortuner: Which car has better interiors?
With the updated Fortuner, Toyota made its cabin considerably more premium looking and added much needed features too. There is a decently sized touchscreen, connected car tech, premium audio system and cooled seats, ambient lighting and more. However the Innova Hycross is in a different league here with its premium cabin. The soft-touch dashboard and the centre console is much more modern plus the features list is way above the Fortuner. There is a massive panoramic sunroof, dual zone climate control, rear luxury seats with extendable legrests, digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting and above all, ADAS features. The Fortuner lags way behind here. It also does not have the sense of space or comfort with the new Innova Hycross being based on a different platform.
Toyota Innova Hycross vs Fortuner: Which car is more powerful?
The Fortuner continues to have a 2.7 litre petrol engine and a 2.8 litre diesel. The petrol makes 166bhp while the diesel makes 204bhp and 500Nm of torque. There is a proper 4x4 system along with a 6-speed manual or automatic. The Innova Hycross gets a 2.0 litre petrol and a 2.0 litre petrol hybrid. The hybrid Innova makes nearly 190bhp and has an e-CVT gearbox. The Fortuner is heavier but makes more power while the lighter Innova Hycross has more agility. Where the Innova Hycross scores is of course efficiency with the hybrid expected to be high efficiency numbers.
Toyota Innova Hycross vs Fortuner: Which car is a better buy?
Unless you go off-roading quite often or drive on road trips to the hills, the Innova Hycross makes more sense over the Fortuner. The Fortuner has the toughness and the 4x4 which the Innova does not have. However, the Innova Hycross has the better interiors, more comfort and space along with the smoothness of its hybrid powertrain. Add in the fact that the Innova Hycross would be much more affordable over the Fortuner and you have a car which is better value for money.
