Price Parity In EVs: Will MG Windsor's Deliveries Drive Buyers Toward Electric?
The Windsor was launched with a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh with the Baas battery rental plan while you can also buy it outright at Rs 13.5 lakh
JSW MG Motor India recently delivered 101 Windsors in Bengaluru while it currently commands a waiting period across several cities since it received more than 15,176 bookings within 24 hours of the bookings announcement. In Delhi NCR also the Windsor was part of more than 100 EVs being delivered this Dhanteras.
The Windsor was launched with a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh with the Baas battery rental plan while you can also buy it outright at Rs 13.5 lakh. There are three trims including Excite, Exclusive, and Essence with the top-end trim getting a lot of demand too.
Currently, there is a sizable waiting period on this car which brings the question as to how the Windsor has managed to get a high number of bookings, while we think it is the price parity that will bring more buyers for EVs. Typically EVs have said to be a lot more expensive but of late the differences are going down in terms of the ICE and the EVs.
In case of the Windsor, it is actually less priced than some other MPVs with their top end models and looking at the features list, the Windsor being a crossover also competes with compact SUVs. EVs have a lot of advantages but the price puts off buyers while in the case of the Windsor, it also brings advantages like a flat floor for more space.
The Windsor comes with a 38kWh battery pack with a 330km range and that is decent for city use and going forward, an aggressive price along with a battery rental plan could also be a ticket to bring in more buyers. As of now, the Windsor is poised to be the best selling EV for JSW MG while further months will reveal the sales figures and how well the model sustains the sales.
