MG Hector Facelift Vs Toyota Innova Hycross: Upcoming Premium Family Cars

With the launch of both MG Hector and the Toyota Innova Hycross around the corner, know which of these makes the most sense for your family.

New Delhi: With both the MG Hector and the Toyota Innova Hycross being expected to be launched soon, the question is whether a full sized SUV makes more sense or a premium MPV which looks more like a crossover. The new Innova Hycross is more luxurious now and has the features to compete with the Hector while the upcoming Hector also moves the game with a giant touchscreen and more features. Let us see which one you should wait for.

Which car looks more premium?

Here it is a tough choice as both cars do have a lot of presence on offer. The new Hector has a massive new grille and same goes for the Hycross. The Hector though has a grille which stretches down to the bumper and increases the presence of the car considerably. The Innova Hycross meanwhile has a more SUV stance with an upright look while also having wider headlamps. Both cars have a huge look with the Innova Hycross being even wider and longer than the already quite big Hector.

Which one has the better interior?

Both cars have a premium cabin with a focus on features and luxury. The new Innova Hycross gets a new cabin with a dual-tone look with soft touch inserts and leather upholstery. Unique to the Innova Hycross is the dash mounted gear lever. A floating type 10.1-inch screen sits at the top of the centre console while the instrument cluster is revised too. The Hector meanwhile has a massive 14-inch touchscreen which occupies the entire centre console. However the fit and finish has now improved over the earlier one.

In terms of space, both cars are spacious with the Innova Hycross having captain seats with an Ottoman feature while also having a third row. The Hector also has a spacious cabin with large seats along with good headroom/legroom. Panoramic sunroof, connected car tech, LED ambient lighting, premium audio system and more are also common on both cars. That said, another big feature which both also provide is the addition of ADAS. Adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring and more are here. This surely adds to the safety quotient of the car.

Which car has more power?

Unlike the Hector, the Innova Hycross is petrol only with a 2.0l petrol unit or a full hybrid powertrain. The Innova Hycross petrol makes 172bhp/205Nm with a CVT gearbox being standard. The hybrid makes more power at 184bhp. The Hector continues with its current engine line-up which means it will get a 143bhp 1.5l petrol in also mild hybrid form and a 2.0l diesel which will only come with a manual.
