Citroen Basalt SUV coupe revealed, coming this year
While heavily based on the C3 Aircross, the Basalt has a more muscular shape and this version is being given the concept tag which means some details might be watered down
Citroen has revealed the concept version of its upcoming SUV coupe called Basalt. The Basalt will slot in above the Citroen C3 Aircross and will be a sporty SUV coupe while this first look shows that it looks quite interesting along with an attractive design.
While heavily based on the C3 Aircross, the Basalt has a more muscular shape and this version is being given the concept tag which means some details might be watered down. That said, the main design will be like this and here you get Projector headlamps and a tweaked grille while the black alloys are also a contrast in design to the yellow paint.
The talking point is the side and the rear styling with the coupe-like shape. The rear styling is all new with larger taillamps over the C3 Aircross while having a new LED lighting signature too. There is a lot of thicker cladding and the detailing is suitably premium. Although we can spot the pull-type door handles like on the C3 Aircross. Expect the interior to be having a 10-inch touchscreen as well while Citroen can equip it with more features over the C3 Aircross with automatic climate control and more.
The powertrain would be a 1.2l turbo petrol just like on the Citroen C3 Aircross too with automatic and manual gearbox options. The Basalt would be their most premium product yet but would be targeting the compact SUV buyer. More SUV coupes will be coming to our market soon with Citroen plus Tata Motors and others coming in this segment.
